Powerup Protein Shake

The question I am asked most often is, “What should I eat after a workout?”  Followed by, “How do I get in all of the protein and vegetables I need?”  This amazing shake is a great solution to both.

Ingredients:

1 Scoop Truvani Protein Powder, chocolate (or your favorite protein powder)**

Heaping Handful Frozen Cauliflower Florets

1/2 C Frozen Mixed Berries

1 Tbsp Almond Butter

1 C Almond Milk or water

Directions:

Add all ingredients to a high speed blender and blend until smooth.  Add more liquid if the mixture is too thick.

Ideas and substitutions:

To pump up fiber and Omega-3’s, add Ground Flaxseed or substitute it in place of almond butter.

Use your favorite milk or milk substitutes in place of almond milk. 

Chocolate cherry version – Sub frozen cherries in place of mixed berries.

Pink Powerup smoothie version – Use Vanilla Truvani Protein Powder and your choice of frozen mixed berries or frozen cherries

Blue Powerup smoothie version – Use Vanilla Truvani Protein Powder and frozen blueberries only.  Add a small chunk of frozen banana for this version to make it a little sweeter if needed.

** Look for a protein powder that has around 20-25g protein, less than 5g carbohydrate, no Sucralose or other artificial sweeteners (stevia leaf extract and monk fruit are the best option if your body tolerates these), minimal chemical additives.  Truvani is a pea-based protein and adding almond will give your body all 9 essential amino acids, making it a complete protein.
