Client Success Story: “I thought I knew what I was doing”

Client: 54 year old woman, perimenopausal

Goal: Weight loss

Method: One-on-one Coaching

Exercise: Strength training / walking 4-5 x weekly

Result: 22 lb weight loss in 7 months

This client had recently experienced a surge of weight gain while trying to balance her hormones.  Her confidence in what and how much to eat was low.  She knew her struggles were stress eating, a lifestyle that involved a lot of travel and eating on the fly, as well as social eating.  

Through the months, we focused on education, emphasizing portion sizes as well as targeting protein and vegetable intake.  “Changing my eating was a complete game changer.  To find out I was eating completely wrong for my age and goals was tough to the ego as I thought I knew what I was doing.  Yet, the changes needed ended up being easy and more satisfying.”

The biggest transformation came in the realm of behavior change.  She developed tools to use in travel and social situations that helped her enjoy and participate with her family while staying on track with her goals.  “I’ve been given the freedom to not stress so much over food when socializing and being on the road.  I now know how to look for the good choices and what is going to sustain me in my day, not just what is easy and easy for everyone else.”

Small changes added up, and after 7 months, she reported a 22 lb weight loss!   She feels confident in her ability to continue with the new health habits she has built.  She feels educated in her decisions about food and able to make informed choices.  

“For the first time in a very long time, I feel somewhat in control of my weight.  I had been told by numerous doctors to just accept the number on the scale, even as it seemed out of control to me.  Losing the weight in a healthy, manageable way has been a gift.  I feel so much better and at home in my own body.  Last weekend I had a full body picture taken at an event and it’s the first picture I have actually liked of myself in a very long time.  I am forever grateful for [Pamela’s] coaching.”
